Virtual Tax Adviser is an expert system application to consult and reason on US tax questions applying knowledge captured in expert systems. Virtual Tax Adviser uses ICaR expert system technology to implement consulting and reasoning functions.
Virtual Tax Adviser is distributed as shareware and can be registered on-line at http://www.icarsystems.com. It is shipped with a sample expert system "Publication 17 Your Federal Income Tax for 1999 (Extracts)". Other expert systems for the use with Virtual Tax Adviser are available at http://www.icarsystems.com or through other vendors.
Consulting Virtual Tax Adviser: Consulting on a certain question with Virtual Tax Adviser is a process of questioning a user on the details of the consulted case, drawing and presenting expert opinion, explaining the decisions and providing ability to run WHAT IF and HOW TO reasoning on the results of consulting.
To question user on a particular detail Virtual Tax Adviser initiates natural language dialogue within the case context. To help user answer a question Virtual Tax Adviser can provide additional information or run related to the question consulting. To answer the question user can select "Don't know" or "Cases" choices. For the "Don't know" answer Virtual Tax Adviser will try to make a decision without that particular user information and for "Cases" answer Virtual Tax Adviser will generate its opinion for each possible user answer on the question.
Having received all needed user information and having made necessary intermediary decisions, Virtual Tax Adviser generates a Report of consulting. Consulting Report and consulting data can be formatted and saved for the future use.
User can get explanation on any of the expert made decisions.
User can run simulation WHAT IF consulting to get expert opinion on a changed consulting data.
User can run planning HOW TO consulting to get expert reasoning on how to receive a particular expert's opinion.
